GREENWAY ECOLOGICAL STANDING COMMITTEE

MEETING NOTES AND ACTION ITEMS

1. Policy for recusal

 

GESC members discussed whether a formal policy should be made regarding members ability to recuse themselves from discussions on proposals. 

 

Action Items

 

·         GESC Chairperson will write up statement to define a recusal policy in writing and forward to GESC members

 

 

2.  Summary of GESC Concerns and Recommendations for Greenway Commission

 

GESC members discussed letter to be sent to Mark Thomas and the Greenway Standing Committee chairs regarding the concerns and recommendations for improving the process for creating a Niagara River Greenway.  Consensus was reached that with a few minor tweaks in the verbiage the letter could be sent.

 

Action Items

 

·         GESC Chairperson will slightly modify the verbiage in the letter before forwarding to Mark Thomas and the Greenway Standing Committee chairs.

 

3.  ESF Proposal “Evaluation of Nearshore Fish Assemblages, Habitat, and the Effects of Harbivorous Rudd (Scardinius erythrophthalmus): Determining the Efficacy of Fish Habitat Restoration Efforts in the Buffalo Harbor and Niagara River”

 

ESF listened to GESC members concerns regarding the cost of the proposal and lack of deliverables included in the original presentation.  Comments were given so that the ESF may revise their original proposal to address concerns so funding can be acquired within next field season.

·         GESC Chairperson will send list of concerns regarding project to ESF
